Why Use Cannabis?
New to cannabis? Welcome! We are excited to be with you on this journey. This helpful guide will give you a rundown of the common whys and hows of cannabis use.
Uses
Many seek medical relief from mental or physical ailments with cannabis while others enjoy the boost of creativity, relaxation, or heightened sensory experiences in their everyday life. People use cannabis for so many things!
Replacing Habits
There have been countless studies showing that people are turning to cannabis instead of alcohol or pharmaceuticals (like painkillers or sleeping pills), claiming they prefer cannabis due to better symptom management and fewer side effects.
Types and Varieties
There are four main types of marijuana varieties, each one known for having different effects. Our budtenders can help you find the right strain based on the description of your needs. We also encourage you to experiment with different products to find the perfect one for you.
Common Uses
Indica – relaxing, promotes better sleep, pain relief, anxiety relief, stimulates appetite
Sativa – stimulating, increased focus and energy, better mood, depression relief
Hybrid – best of both Indica and Sativa, provides euphoria or relaxation, can be Sativa or Indica dominant
CBD – little to no high, reduces inflammation, aids in relaxation, helps with sleep and to ease anxiety
Ways to Consume
There are several different ways to consume marijuana to best fit your lifestyle.
Flower and prerolls – this is your traditional flower straight from the cannabis plant to use for smoking in a joint, bong, or pipe.
Vape – for those who do not want to inhale smoke, vaping is a great alternative.
Edibles – these are food items infused with cannabis. They are not entirely recommended for beginners as their effects can take quite a while (1-2 hours) to set in. The entire product is never meant to be consumed at once.
Topicals – most topicals are intended for relief of the applied area and do not get you high (the exception being transdermal patches).
Tinctures – fast-acting, long-lasting alternative to smoking or edibles that are taken orally as liquid drops.
Concentrates – highly potent and not for beginners. Concentrates include wax, shatter, hash, crumble, and resin.
Dosing
There is no hard-set rule when it comes to dosing as it affects everybody differently. It’s essential to be patient and start slow. Try one hit of a joint, a tiny portion of an edible, or a small dose of a tincture, and allow up to two hours to feel the full effects.
